Burning rubber in Cozumel - Trikes Cozumel Tour

Had so much fun exploring Cozumel on the Trikes Cozumel tour. Tour included a few stops to take photos and get snacks .

Our last stop was a Mayan ritual dance, tastings for tequila, honey and chocolate.

In addition, the guys took plenty of photos and uploaded them to their Facebook page for us to view and download, with no additional cost.

But don’t take my word for it. Sign up today and go burn some rubber!

My personal experience with crime in Merida.

You can search crime rate or statistics in Mexico, and Merida will more than likely show up as the top safest place in Mexico.  I believe for the most part that this is true.  But just because a place is listed as the safest place to live, it does not mean that there is no crime.  Yes, there is crime in Merida, but the types of crime in Merida (mostly non-violent) as compared to other states in Mexico would be an important consideration to anyone considering living in this area.

Solutions Mexico - an online shopping experience which will furnish your home in Mexico

We hardly know where to start with this review about Solutions Mexico.  Before closing on our home in Puerto Aventuras and moving into our new home, we spent several days in Mexico going from store to store looking for our perfect furniture.  Unfortunately, we could not find anything we absolutely loved.

Faro del Mayab Hospital in Merida, Yucatán - REVIEW

We recently transitioned all our healthcare from the United States to Mexico. We live here full time…so time to find doctors in Yucatán.

We searched for recommendations on Doctoralia and Facebook. We found our primary care physician Dra Zaide, who specializes in Internal medicine, had stellar reviews.  We scheduled our appointments through Doctoralia and went to her office, which is in Faro del Mayab Hospital in Merida. We had previously visited the Faro del Mayab Hospital for emergency services in 2024 and was impressed by the excellent care we received.  The fact that the doctors and healthcare staff speak English was a plus.

Jorce Construccion Estrategica - Review

We needed to have pool work done after a prior contractor did not complete our work.  We noticed one of our neighbors having a pool built and he said the company was doing a great job. He gave us the referral to Jorge Parra of Jorce Construccion Estrategica

Interiores Mérida - REVIEW

We recently purchased a newly built home in Yucatan, Mexico.  We have done extensive work to customize the home to our needs.  The one area we were concerned with was our pool area and mosquitoes.  Although we had screens installed on all our doors and windows, our pool courtyard was still susceptible to those nasty mosquitos and other creepy crawlers.

Dental Services in Merida - Dra. Fernanda Solis

My husband and I are both chickens when it comes to going to the dentist, but we force ourselves to go three times a year. For the last 10 years we have been going to our dentist in Playa del Carmen, but with our recent move to Yucatan, we needed to find a new bilingual dentist and fast.

Campeche - FULL CITY DAY TOUR

Are you ready to pursue the pirates, be awed by a Black Jesus, and walk the walls of the city?  If so, you need to go to Campeche and take a tour with Chelita Travel.  We went on the Full City Day Tour. We learned about pirates, Puerta de Mar, Puerta de Tierra, black Jesus and much, much more.  Wilberth, our tour guide, was very passionate, personable and knowledgeable.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Campeche and found everything to be exceptional.

Lili Bermuda Perfumery - yes, they delivery to Mexico

My husband and I found this little gem back in 2011 and 2012 while cruising to Bermuda. We purchased the Legacy Fragrance Library for Her gift sample case and fell in love with the Oleander scent. After going back home and reviewing their website, I noticed they offered the Oleander Collectors gift set.

Documents needed to sell your home in Puerto Aventuras, as a foreigner

We decided to sell our condo and relocate to another part of Mexico.  We absolutely love Mexico and would never consider leaving this beautiful country.  But after ten years, it was time to say goodbye to Puerto Aventuras and explore other areas like Lake Chapala and The State of Oaxaca.

STEPS ON HOW TO PRINT YOUR RFC ONLINE

DISCLAIMER: This blogpost is composed by PlayaWeatherman.

So, you’ve gone through all the trouble to obtain your RFC and now when you go somewhere and plan to use your RFC, guess what, they want one that is dated from within the last 30 days.  You can go down the nearest SAT office and wait in line to have them print it out.  Or you can go online and print it off yourself.  And it is actually pretty fast and easy.

Airbnb experience in Yucatan, Mexico

We recently had the privilege of residing at an Airbnb in the Centro neighborhood of Merida from February 1st to February 29th, 2024.

The area is a perfect location for shopping, dining out, and having easy access to the arts and culture which are in abundance in the Yucatan.

Although we enjoyed our time, we were not happy with this Airbnb because they did not deliver the advertised amenities. We trust that this blog post will help future Airbnb customers. By the way…we had shared this information directly with the owners and their property manager before we wrote this blog post and reviewed them on Airbnb with a 3-star rating. I have decided not to list the name of this Airbnb or its owners in this post.  We also shared with the owner that we would consider renting their property again if all the below issues were addressed to our satisfaction.

Here is the list of issues we had.

1- The lack of hot water was a major problem. We never had hot water in the kitchen, and the hot water in the shower was sporadic.

2- The power button on the microwave oven was broken and recessed. The only way to turn the microwave on was to put our pinkie finger inside the power button opening to touch an internal switch to start it.

3- Their 2-slice toaster only toasts one slice at a time, with you having to hold the toasting button down while you toast the one slice.

4- There were four each of bath and hand towels, along with two beach towels. However, they did not have washcloths, so we purchased two of our own.

5- We purchased several small kitchen items to make our living arrangements more comfortable; a large colander to drain pasta, measuring cups, measuring spoons, whisk, and spatulas.

6- There are no screens on the patio door in the living room or bedroom window, although the listing indicates mosquito netting was available.

7- There is a restaurant/club down the street that opens at 1:00 pm and closes at 3:00 a.m., and you can hear very loud music in the building. Although the owner has no control over loud music in the community, we recommend bringing earplugs, and adding this on their listing so that others are aware and could bring/purchase earplugs.

Within two weeks of starting our stay, we spoke with the owner and their property manager about our concerns. However, nothing changed.

We identified some opportunities for additional amenities:

1 - Adding a small shelf safe that can fit laptops and other small valuables.
2 - Adding a peephole would provide another level of security.

Mariachi Oro Del Caribe Mexicano Band

We recently hosted a destination birthday party right here in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico.  It was a fabulous event complete with family and friends, from both near and far, swag bags with everything Mexico in them, magical decorations, gift table, exquisite food, and a fun and lively Mariachi Oro Del Caribe Mexicano mariachi band.  The event was held at the Puerto Aventuras Beach Club and Hotel the El Xenote Restaurant, and all I can say is WOW!!!

The Cozumel Trolley & Tour Company

Cozumel Buggy - DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY

We happened to see this buggy tour while shopping in Cozumel and it looked fun. We also read several reviews on Trip Advisor and thought we would give it a try. Let me be perfectly clear.  This blogpost is about the Buggy Tour located at: Av. Rafael E. Melgar 1. Av. Claudio Canta 77600 Q.R. Mexico.  Their email address is: info@gtriviera.com. And their phone number is: +52-987-141-0097.  When you use Google to search for Cozumel Buggy Tour, several will be listed.  But this is the one we hired and am writing this review about.  I certainly don’t want to write a negative post about the wrong company.

A Cat Deterrent that Actually Works

DISCLAIMER: This post was submitted by PlayaWeatherman.

If you have spent much time in Mexico, I am sure you have noticed a LOT of cats walking about. There are many feral (stray) cats and unfortunately plenty of cats that are allowed by their owners to roam about the community (this is dangerous for them since there are predators and illnesses that they can catch).
