Paying Property Tax for your Property in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico

When we purchased our condo in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico, we were informed that we would need to pay our property tax each year through the Solidaridad municipality. We did much investigating regarding how to pay property taxes on forums, webpages, etc. We discovered that with our clave catastral (property registry) number that is found on our property deed, we could look up our property tax bill on the Solidaridad website.

Each year, the Solidaridad municipality sends their bilingual speaking tax collection representatives to Puerto Aventuras for 2 weeks in December. The Colonos Office and the Pelican Free Press list the dates and times that the representatives will be available on their websites. The representatives are located at the Colonos office meeting room, which is on the second floor around the corner from Oxxo store (across from the Omni Hotel) in the Centro section of Puerto Aventuras. The Colonos office also hangs a larger banner outside the building as a reminder of the convenient service they are offering its residence (see photos below).

As an added bonus, by paying in December you receive a 25% discount on your tax bill.  We stopped to pay our taxes and were all done within 5 minutes.

IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE:

If you are a permanent resident and have your INAPAM card (senior citizen) you are eligible for a 50% discount on your property taxes. However, to take advantage of this benefit, you need to pay in person at City Hall in Playa del Carmen.
