Covid-19 Testing and Results at Cancun Airport

Decided to take a day trip to Miami from Cancun for a fun day of window shopping and lunch at the Aventura Mall.  It was a good change of scenery and an opportunity to experience the process of obtaining my Covid-19 Antigen test and results.

As you are aware from reading my previous post (or from the news, your health care provider, the CDC, etc.), if you are traveling from Mexico to the United States, you need to demonstrate that you have taken a Covid-19 test and obtained negative test results.

I arrived even earlier at the Cancun airport to allow for any additional time needed for this new process.  Despite of my pending excitement about shopping in Miami, I was quite nervous about the whole testing process at the airport. To be honest, I had envisioned hundreds of people lined-up, with little to none in terms of social distancing, very few people wearing masks (as required), and a very unorganized operation.

I was pleasantly surprised that the systems in place were impressive.  Upon entering the airport, I was directed to the testing section, where no one was waiting in line (a couple of people had decided to sit near the testing place while they waited for their results, but that was it).

The testing staff asked to see my passport so they could determine which test I needed, then I completed a short form with name and email address.  They had several testing stations and techs, all suited up in their bio-gear ready to get busy.  I was escorted to one of their testing booths and had my nasals swabbed. The end. They bid me farewell and indicated I would receive my results in about 15 to 30 minutes. Once I received my negative test results, I proceeded to check-in, showed the email on my phone with my negative test results and was on my way to Miami!  All that worry for nothing...😅

Here are a few photos showing the testing facility at the airport, along with my test results.

Safe Travels! 🛫
