COVID-19 TESTING

DISCLAIMER: The following information was provided by the Colonos Association of Puerto Aventuras, Mexico                    

We have been trying to find the most efficient way to assist those residents who, according to the latest regulations, will need a negative COVID-19 Test Certificate prior to boarding on a plane in Mexico bound for other countries. 

It is the responsibility of the traveler to find out what are the requirements of the airline and the country of destination. Therefore, with respect to Covid-19 testing, please check which type of test is required for your journey.

Our findings with respect to the availability of the different types of tests in our area are as follows: 

COVID -19 PCR TEST

DREAMS HOTEL 

This hotel has a contract with Hospiten whereby the latter will attend at their hotel to carry out such PCR tests at a cost of $50.00 USD per person. We have tried to come to an arrangement so that our residents can be accepted under the umbrella of this agreement but Hospiten has refused to allow us to do so, stating that their contract is only for guests of the hotel and that there is a limit as to the number of tests which can be performed on any one day.

We are now trying to come to an agreement directly with Hospiten so that the PCR COVID-19 Test can be performed here in Puerto Aventuras, but this is riddled with administrative hurdles. We will let you know the outcome of our efforts.

HOSPITEN RIVIERA MAYA

You may contact them on +52 984 803 1002 or +52 984 159 2200. This hospital is situated on the Federal Highway Avenida Balamcanche, Lote 1, MZA 30, Carr. Federal 77710, Playa del Carmen.

You will need to schedule your Covid-19 PCR test 3 days in advance. The PCR test costs $2,900 MXN for Quintana Roo residents with Resident Cards, and $5,600 MXN for non-residents /visitors. It can be paid in cash or by credit /debit card.

The tests are given between 8-10 am and the results will be available between 9-10 pm on the same day. They will be delivered by email or can be collected from the hospital itself.

PLAYALAB 

You may contact them on +52 984 254 3318. Their address is Calle 8 con 30 Esq. 30 Av. Centro Playa del Carmen. They are near Walmart on 30th Avenue in Playa del Carmen.

You do not need to make an appointment. If you arrive between 8 - 9 am, the test result will be available 24 hrs. later. It will be sent to you by email, WhatsApp or you can collect it personally from this Lab. See sample photo of PCR Covid-19 certificate which they issue. The cost is $2,100 MXN which can be paid in cash or by credit/debit card.

 

COSTAMED 

You may contact them on 800 900 1133 or +52 984 803 7777. Their address is Carretera Federal 305 MZ 285 LT 7 Col. Ejido Sur, Playa del Carmen Q.R.

They offer a 5% discount on PCR Covid-19 tests to residents of Puerto Aventuras by presenting their Property Owner’s / Resident Card issued by the Colonos Association of Puerto Aventuras and to employees working in Puerto Aventuras who present their employee cards issued by the Colonos Association Of Puerto Aventuras. Due to the high demand, they do not offer testing at home or at a Resort. The cost of the PCR test is $2,499 MXN and the results are available in 36 to 72 hours - they are sent by email.

 

FARMACIAS SIMILARES

PCR test has a cost of $2,399 MXN. Results are available in 2 days and can be delivered by email or can be collected from the laboratory itself.

All the above-mentioned PCR Covid-19 test providers have assured us that they are performing these tests for travelers to the USA and other countries. 

“RAPID” ANTIGEN TESTS

It is reported that these are not as accurate as the PCR test, they are nevertheless said to be accepted in certain countries and not in others.

 

FARMACIA DE AHORRO 

They offer the Antigen test at a cost of $346.84 MXN. To know the nearest subsidiary to get the test, you can check here. Results are available in only 15 minutes.

Antigen test has a cost of $849 MXN. Results are available in 2 or 3 hours and can be delivered by email or can be collected from the laboratory itself.

Once again, please ensure that you check with your chosen airline and your country of destination which Covid-19 test they will accept.
