The top 10 things to do in Playa del Carmen, Mexico when it's raining outside.

In spite of the fact that we live in one of the most beautiful places in the western Caribbean, everyday cannot be a beach day.  So we've created a list of the top 10 things to do in P-L-A-Y-A-D-I-S-E while we’re waiting for the sun to come back out.  ENJOY!

1.  Go to the movies.  Cinemex in the Centro Maya mall is a full-service theatre with several movies in English with Spanish sub-titles; plus, it’s cheap!  Two adult tickets are around 72 pesos, add a large bottle water and box of popcorn (half caramel & half yellow corn) for around 86 pesos and you can go often. In addition, depending on the time of year you go, tickets
are 2 for 1.
It’s a must do whether it’s raining or not.

2.  Go to the local library. The Leona Vicario Library is located on Avenida Benito Juarez and 20th Ave, inside the park with the same name. With a large collection of books, both residents and tourists enjoy this venue.

3.   Visit an art Gallery. The Riviera Art Gallery features an array of pieces from up and coming artists to the more seasoned. With photos, sculptures, paintings and handicrafts, there is something for everyone and every budget.

4.   Go bowling.  Planet Bowl and Entertainment Center is all about family, friends and fun.  With bowling alleys, pool tables, skee ball and more, you’ll forget all about the rain.

5.   Start your own Blog or Vlog.  Writing your blog or creating videos are a great way to capture you’re travel experiences to share with family and friends.  There are several resources available to help you get started!

6.   Give back to your community and sign up for Volunteer Match.  Whether you are in the middle of Timbuktu or right next door, it’s never too late to put your skills and attributes to work by volunteering.   With Volunteer Match you connect with a cause that needs you. And with over 90,000 nonprofits around the world, there is no shortage of opportunities.  It only takes a few minutes to create your profile and account.  So sign up today and find your perfect match.

7.   Go to the Mall.  Walking around the mall is a fun way to window shop for next season’s hottest swimsuit, people watch, and get in some exercise without even breaking a sweat.  Playa del Carmen has two malls: Centro Maya Mall and Plaza Las Americas Mall.

8.   Send Ecards.  Surprise your family and friends with an ecard.  It’s a quick and easy way to say “I’m thinking about you”, or “miss you”.  There is no shortage of online ecard resources; some are free and some are fee based.  So pick one and get started today!

9.   Review a restaurant on TripAdvisor.  You know all the restaurants you've been going to and taking all those photos of your food and drinks?  Now is the time to use them.  It’s quick, easy, and a great way to share your culinary experiences with others.

10.  Finally, clean your house.  When was the last time you really cleaned your home?  Get out that bucket and don those long rubber gloves. It’s time to give your house a good scrubbing.  And just to help you out, here is a link that talks about getting rid of mold and mildew.
