Xaman Ha Aviary in Playa del Carmen, Mexico

When we lived in Playacar Fase II in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, we would walk pass the Xaman Ha Aviary on an almost daily basis. I’m embarrassed to say that we never took the time or opportunity to explore this attraction.  




Although we now live in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico, we visit
Playa del Carmen often to enjoy meeting with friends, dining out and shopping. It’s also fun to walk through our old neighborhood to see how things have changed.  And that’s exactly what we were doing the other day when we decided to finally venture into the Aviary.

We spoke with the ticket agent who provided a brief overview of

the tour.  He gave instructions on the do’s and don’ts of the park, showed us where the restrooms were, and discussed pricing.  Now, if I am to be completely honest, we thought the adult admission price of $20.00 USD or $300.00 pesos each was high.  But as we read through the pricing information, we saw that residents of Quintana Roo and INAPAM members received a discount as long as they have their residency and/or INAPAM cards with them as proof.  Now the adult price was only $10.00 USD or $150.00 pesos.  Since I am a permanent resident, and a member of INAPAM, I showed my cards, paid our discounted fee, received our wrist bands, and entered the park. 

All we can say is WOW.  The birds with their bright colors and graceful movements were simply beautiful and breathtaking!  

As we walked through the aviary, we could not help but stop every few feet to take photos and videos. We really enjoyed the tour and scolded ourselves for waiting so long to attend.
