We happened to see this buggy tour while shopping in Cozumel and it looked fun. We also read several reviews on Trip Advisor and thought we would give it a try. Let me be perfectly clear. This blogpost is about the Buggy Tour located at: Av. Rafael E. Melgar 1. Av. Claudio Canta 77600 Q.R. Mexico. Their email address is: info@gtriviera.com. And their phone number is: +52-987-141-0097. When you use Google to search for Cozumel Buggy Tour, several will be listed. But this is the one we hired and am writing this review about. I certainly don’t want to write a negative post about the wrong company.
We were extremely disappointed in our experience. Saul, our guide was great. He made the best of a bad situation. But our tour was scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m., and we were instructed to be at the appointed meeting place at 1:15 p.m. At 1:30, no one had shown up. We thought that perhaps the prior tour was just running a little late. We waited and waited. At this point, my husband contacted the company to determine what the problem was. He was told that our guide would be there in 10 minutes. Saul finally arrived at 2:00 p.m. and apparently did not know that our tour was supposed to start at 1:30 p.m. After several apologies about the late start, it was time to discuss the buggies.
It was not clear what the issue was, but Saul kept encouraging us not to drive the buggies. He said they were plastic, old and beat up. He explained that if our hearts were set on the buggies, he would take us to them. But to be honest, we are not even sure the buggies were nearby. We never saw them. He did however have a sexy pink convertible Mustang in the parking lot, which he conveniently led us too. Of course, once we saw the cute car, we forgot all about the beat-up buggies.
The three of us took turns driving the car and really enjoyed the reactions of pedestrians as we drove around. It was hard not to have a smile on our faces. We decided not to snorkel, but instead drove the sexy pink Mustang to the first beach club to relax on their loungers. Since the tour started late, we skipped another beach stop and asked to be taken to the included lunch. That was very underwhelming.
The lunch was not even at a restaurant. It appeared to be a large palapa with tables and chairs underneath. We were served simple fajitas and had to pay an additional cost for chips, salsa, and bottled water. The only redeeming quality was that we had a view of the ocean.
After lunch, we stopped to take a few more photos and then asked Saul to take us back to our drop-off. Saul was nice enough to allow us to end the tour near the ferry pier so we would not have to take a taxi back to the ferry.
The tour included; buggy cars or Mustang, lunch, 2 or 3 beach stops for photos, tequila tasting stop, beach club loungers and local shopping.
The bottom line: tour 1 star π. Saul 5 stars π.
By the way. We did provide feedback to the company through their webpage, and to date have not heard back from them. I have also posted this review on TripAdvisor.
Below is a video and photos.
