RESIDENCE INN BY MARRIOTT HOTEL IN PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MEXICO

We recently had family visit us in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico.  They had been promising to come, but the timing was never right.  Finally, they were able to ascertain plane tickets at a good price, the timing was perfect, and they found the Residence Inn by Marriott Hotel in Playa del Carmen.

After reading an article I sent them about preparing for their visit to Mexico, several phone calls and a couple of video chats, they were here!  Although our visit was short, we had a wonderful time and they vowed to come again soon.  But what this post is about is the Residence Inn Hotel by Marriot in Playa del Carmen, Mexico (next to Hospiten Hospital and right across for Liverpool department store).  I stress the location because when my family came for their visit, there were some problems with the shuttle service not knowing that there was a Residence Inn by Marriott Hotel in Playa del Carmen.

But I digress…after my family got checked in, we arrived shortly thereafter.  We were all impressed with how the Residence Inn in Playa looked exactly look those in the United States.  In fact, we spoke about the fact that if we were not in Mexico, we would think we were in the United States.

The building is new, and the rooms are lovely.  Some of their rooms even had garden views with a tiny balcony and two chairs (cute).  The room also had a small closet safe, ironing board with iron, hair dryer, hand soap, bath gel, shampoo, conditioner, a fully stocked kitchen with dishes, pots, pans, flatware, stemware, etc., and a full-size refrigerator, stovetop, dishwasher, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, etc. In addition, there were outlets and USB ports all over the room.

It truly is the perfect place for long or short term.  And the pricing was perfect.  My family stayed for 5 nights, and the price was $50.00 USD, plus tax.  You just can’t beat that!  Now keep in mind that the facility was brand new, and my family visited during slow season.  These two factors played a huge role in the price.

What we were most impressed with was the digital reader flight board in the lobby showing arrivals and departures.  Maybe all hotels have that now, but we had not seen any before.

All in all, my family certainly enjoyed their time here in Mexico, and really appreciated staying in a familiar hotel.  When asked if they would recommend this hotel, they gave a resounding YES!
