We purchased our little piece of the Western Caribbean pie in the summer of 2014. We allotted a certain amount of money for the purchase of our condo, new furniture and fixtures, and of course, repairs. But to be honest, we were most worried about the repairs.
Being new to our new country, and not speaking the language or knowing anyone personally, we turned to one of the major resources we used while conducting our research before moving to the western Caribbean, from the United States, the playa.info forum. Although this forum no longer exists, it provided us, along with visitors and expats alike, with invaluable information.
But I digest. Let me get back to what I was talking about. On playa.info, we found a wealth of information on contractors that other people had used and recommended highly. We were specifically looking for an electrician, but ultimately would need other contractor services too. As we read through the threads on the forum, reading reviews and recommendations, one name continue to come up, RHM Services.
RHM Services had done some wonderful electrical/lighting work for some of the local restaurants in Playa del Carmen. So, we decided that if this company was good enough to provide lighting services for restaurants, they could probably handle a few electrical jobs for us.
We took a deep breath, sent an email inquiring into the cost of replacing all the ceiling fans and lights in our new condo and hoped for the best. That same day, we received an email back with competitive pricing and a willingness to accommodate our schedule. In fact, RHM responded so quickly, we had to make a quick trip to Home Depot in Cancun to finish purchasing the lights (we had purchased a few at the Home Depot in Playa, but they did not have enough, hence, the quick trip to Cancun).
After meeting with Mr. Raul Mora (the owner of RHM Services) and seeing his work, we understood why he came so highly recommended. He is extremely professional, honest, trustworthy, guarantees his work, works within your schedule and budget, speaks excellent English (which was a plus for us since our Spanish is little to none), has a warm and engaging personality, PLUS, he has a great team of people that we have come to know and love.
Mr. Raul Mora and his contractors have done several projects for us. In addition to his electrical work for us, (which included, replacing ceiling fans and lights, moving electrical outlets, and adding electrical outlets inside and outside our condo), he has done concrete work, painting (inside and out), ceiling and tile replacement, sink and faucet replacements, plumbing (kitchen and baths). He converted our condo from gas to electric (installation of an electrical stove-top and electric hot-water heater), outside window awning to repel the rain, and hurricane shutters. He’s done several other projects for us, but I trust this gives you the breadth and depth of his work.
The point that I am trying to make is this; we always work with Mr. Raul Mora when we need work done in our condo (big and small). In fact, we have referred him to many friends and neighbors. In addition, we had guests recently come to visit and we invited Mr. Raul Mora to come to meet them. They had heard so much about the man that helps us keep our home in top notch shape, they wanted to meet him. How many contractors do you know that your guests want to meet?
So, if you need a contractor, don’t trust anyone else. Contact
Mr. Raul Mora of RHM Services. You will not be disappointed.
