How we spent our first Christmas in Playa del Carmen, Mexico

We are so excited.  We can hardly believe that we are living our dream of being in Playa del Carmen, Mexico (PDC) and experiencing our first Christmas here.

Apparently, we are not the only ones that enjoy PDC during the holidays.  The Playa Times recently posted an article stating a record number of visitors descended on this once small fishing village.  We can certainly see the difference in just walking around and seeing hundreds of people shopping, dining and packing the beach!

We could not let our first Christmas in PDC go by without being in the thick of things.  Our day started at Our Lady Carmen Catholic Church on 5th Avenue and Juarez Avenue for Christmas Mass and counting our many blessings.  This quaint little church on the beach is simply beautiful.  You really do feel at peace and at one with the Higher Power in such a tranquil venue (see photos below).

After mass, we walked to our favorite restaurant, Imprevist (make sure you read our detailed breakfast review on Trip Advisor) and had a lovely and relaxing breakfast (see photos below).  After breakfast, we strolled around town to see the happenings; all the stores were open, and buzzing with excitement.  In addition, the infamous 5th Avenue has never been busier (see photos below).

Now it was time to head home to call family and friends back in the United States.  WOW…time sure does fly.  Between phone calls, emails, iMessaging and FaceTime, a couple of hours had passed and it was time to get ready for our Christmas dinner at Imprevist (make sure you read our detailed dinner review on Trip Advisor).  Dinner was superb, with beautiful table settings, elegant ambiance, delicious food, and scrumptious dessert.  It truly is one of our favorite places to dine.  And, to be able to celebrate our first Christmas in Mexico, made it even more special!

After our leisurely dinner, we once again headed to the infamous 5th Avenue to say hello to a few of our local friends that were working.  With hugs and wishes of Feliz Navidad, it was time to head home and call it a day.

We truly had a blessed day and a Merry Christmas!
